These are Aphids, they come in many colors the body shape remains the same,
what I have learned is they are like the cockroach, if you see one there are 10,000 more!
The Army Worm Moth looks like this.
The moth flies and lays eggs, that hatch a worm that looks like this
, I bet you have this guy around Oklahoma, I know I have! The moth flys from June to July and so that is why the work is called the Fall Army Worm.
Cabbage attracts these guys, the Yellow/White Cabbage Worm Moth
, it is the dots on the wing that helps you to identify them, they produce these Cabbage Worms
. I know that you have seen this guy, and look what they do!
Then this moth, the Cabbage Looper Moth looks like this
, and transforms in to the Cabbage Looper Worm
.
Now I would like to introduce to you to the little guys that can destory a crop of corn
this is the Corn Earworm, see how little they start out
newly hatched Corn Ear worm. Then before you know it you look behind the husk and silk to find this Giant Corn Ear Worm
!
Then this other pest the Corn Root Beetle, and they look so harmless, kind of like a mis shaped and off color lady bug,
don't be fooled! The Corn Bore,
bores into the stalk and the ear.
